Morning: Pick up from your hotel in Zanzibar and transfer to the Airport for your flight to Mikumi Airstrip (or ferry to Dar and drive). Upon arrival, your Fantastic Safaris guide will meet you in a 4x4 open-roof safari vehicle.
Afternoon: Start your first game drive in Mikumi. You'll explore the Mkata Floodplain, famous for its large populations of elephants and giraffes. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush or at a designated site. As the sun sets, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Full Day: Spend the entire day tracking Mikumi's predators. Lions are often seen perched on termite mounds or shaded under trees. Visit the "Hippo Pools" to see these massive mammals and a variety of water birds.
You will also encounter buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, and the rare Greater Kudu. The open horizons of the floodplain provide excellent photography opportunities. Return to the lodge for a relaxed evening and dinner under the stars.
Morning: Rise early for a "sunrise game drive" to catch the animals while they are most active. After a late breakfast at the lodge, enjoy a short final game drive as we head towards the airstrip.
Afternoon: Board your return flight to Zanzibar. Our driver will be waiting at the airport to transfer you back to your beach resort, concluding your unforgettable safari adventure.
